We don’t have time for this.
We don’t have budget for this.

Time and budget constraints are the most common reasons nonprofits delay investing in security. But when a real incident occurs, the cost, in both money and time, is significantly higher.

  • Nonprofits are prime targets for cyberattacks—making security a critical conversation.

  • Microsoft provides substantial discounts and free security assessments, lowering the entry barrier.

  • Modern threats require modern defenses, such as MFA, Zero Trust, and Microsoft Defender.

  • Strong security helps nonprofits build trust with donors, partners, and the communities they serve.

  • Many impactful security improvements can be implemented in minutes—not months.

Position security not as a cost, but as an essential, scalable service you can deliver to protect your customers and grow your business.

  • Limited budgets:
Less investment in security tools, monitoring, and expertise

  • Small or non-specialized IT teams:
Security isn’t always a dedicated role

  • High staff & volunteer turnover:
More onboarding gaps and human error risks

  • Valuable data:
Donor info, personal records, and financial data are attractive targets

  • Outdated systems:
Legacy tech is harder to secure and patch

  • Open, trust-based culture:
Makes phishing and social engineering more effective

Lower risk for nonprofits. Greater opportunity for you.

Phishing, ransomware, identity theft, and even nation-state conflicts, all these challenges can make things feel overwhelming.

Fortunately, Microsoft offers substantial discounts to nonprofits. With help from a knowledgeable reseller, you can navigate complex licensing, access free assessments, and discover solutions that truly meet your needs and giving you tools that frustrate hackers.

Nonprofits get attacked more than you’d think

Identity & Access

  • MFA
  • Conditional Access
  • Strong authentication policies

First things first! Are your customers already listed as an eligible Nonprofit at Microsoft?

If yes, you can skip this paragraph. If not, let’s guide you through it!

STEP 1: Identify Eligibility

  • Determine which Microsoft nonprofit grants and offers the customer qualifies for.

  • More information here.

STEP 2: Assess security readyness

  • Review identity, devices, email security, and access policies.

STEP 3: Deploy foundational security

  • Implement Microsoft 365 Business Premium and baseline protections.

STEP 4: Expand over time

  • Introduce advanced security and managed services as needs evolve.

  • Let’s check Security!

You'd like to know NOW if your customer's mission is at risk?

  • No installation or advanced technical expertise required.
  • Quick - you can get started right away
  • Nonprofit Customers can do the assessment by themselves

1) Review the results together
2) Define next steps
3) Guide them toward a more secure environment

Self Assessment for Nonprofits

Self-Assessment

  • We are sure you’ve heard
about Microsoft AccountGuard

Free extra protection for nonprofits facing high-risk threats.

What it is

A free Microsoft service that gives your nonprofit customer early warnings if they’re targeted by nation-state or highly sophisticated cyberattacks.

What it does

  • Alerts your customers if Microsoft detects targeted attacks

  • Covers both organizational accounts and (optional) personal accounts
of key staff

  • Provides guidance on what to do next

  • Offers extra identity protection resources (e.g., discounted YubiKeys)
Learn more

Why it matters

Perfect for your nonprofit customers working in advocacy, human rights, democracy, or any area where targeted attacks are more common.

What it’s not

Not a full SOC/MDR service — it’s an added layer of monitoring + early warning, not a replacement for Defender, MFA, or Zero Trust.

  • Discounted Microsoft
Licenses for Nonprofits

  • M365 E5 — 60% off

  • E5 Defender / E5 Purview — 60% off

Defender for
Office 365

Protects your customers inbox from phishing and malicious links — still the #1 cause of nonprofit breaches.

Defender for Endpoint

Keeps laptops and devices safe by stopping malware and ransomware before they spread.

Identity Protection

Helps catch suspicious logins and prevents attackers from using stolen passwords.

Intune (Device Management)

Makes sure staff devices are secure and compliant — even when people work remotely or use personal laptops.

Information Protection (Sensitivity Labels)

Ensures donor data and sensitive documents are encrypted and only seen by the right people.

Zero Trust built in

A modern “trust no one by default” approach that reduces risk even if a password gets stolen.

  • But what if...?

 Handling Common Nonprofit Objections

“We do not have the budget for security”

What they mean: Security feels like a cost, not a priority.

How partners should respond:

  • Highlight available Microsoft nonprofit grants and discounts
  • Position security as included in platforms they may already use
  • Start with funded or low-cost baseline deployments

“We are too small to be a target”

Most attacks are automated—size doesn’t matter. What matters is whether basic protections are in place.

How partner should response:

  • Emphasize that attackers target easy, not just large
  • Share examples of phishing, ransomware in small orgs
  • Focus on basic protections (MFA, email security)

“We do not have IT resources”

What they mean: They fear complexity and ongoing management.

How partner should response:

  • Position yourself as a managed partner
  • Emphasize simplicity of Microsoft cloud solutions
  • Offer packaged services

 “Security will slow us down”

What they fear: Friction for staff and volunteers.

How partner should response:

  • Modern security is designed to stay in the background while keeping your work safe
  • Highligh user-friendly tools (e.g., MFA apps, seamless login)
  • Frame security enabling safe collaboration

“We have never had an issue”

Many organizations only discover gaps after an incident — our goal is to identify risks before they become problems.

How partner should response:

  • Introduce the idea of hidden threats
  • Offer security assessment as a low-risk first step

High-Growth Opportunity for Partners

Where purpose-driven impact meets long-term business growth.

Build Trust Early with a Security-First Approach

Partners can lead with Microsoft-funded offers and begin by assessing the organization’s current security posture, from identity protection and email security to device management. This creates a clear roadmap that aligns security priorities with the nonprofit’s mission and resources.

Starting with foundational solutions such as Microsoft 365 Business Premium enables partners to deliver immediate value while creating opportunities to expand into managed security, compliance, and cloud services over time.
